There is a video game craze sweeping the nation and it is not looking like it will slow down anytime soon. Just about every video gamer, and even those that never played games before, have played Rock Band or Guitar Hero. These games franchises have made video games cool to play, and an acceptable recreational activity. Especially if you are a rocker, or a lover of rock music.
What the market was missing, however, was a game for individuals who are not a big fan of rock music. There are many people who prefer club music, and hip hop to the Rolling Stones and Aerosmith, but until now there was nothing on the market that would provide a similar experience to Guitar Hero or Rock Band. If you fall into this category, then your wait is over with the new DJ Hero franchise. This new game, from the makers of Guitar Hero, comes with a turntable, as opposed to a guitar, that will let you re-create some of your favorite club and hip hop songs.
The turntable is similar to a realistic turntable that a real DJ would use, with the same knobs, buttons and sliders. While the song plays on your TV screen, you will need to operate the turntable, pressing the buttons that correspond to those that appear while the song progresses. It may take some time to acclimate yourself with the new turntable controller, but there are tutorials to help, and after some practice you will be ready to take on the various songs in the game.
The songs are different enough and varied enough in the genre that even non fans can keep pushing through the songs and enjoy the game. The songs are performed by some of the biggest names in DJ circles, but probably don’t mean anything to most people. Just know that the songs are put together very well and even if the genre is not your favorite, and you wouldn’t have any of them on your IPod, they are still a blast and fun to play.
DJ Hero is now available for all of the major gaming platforms, and costs approximately $150. While DJ Hero is not as expensive as a full Rock Band or Guitar Hero set, it is still costly. With all of the new Rock Band and Guitar Hero titles being released you may have to choose between one or the other, but if you enjoy club music and hip hop, then DJ Hero is the way to go.
