Bioshock has become a video game hit. The Xbox360 game sold extremely well and was a certified hit for the system and just recently, Playstation 3 owners finally got the chance to play this awesome game a few months ago. There has been a sequel in the works for some time and the excitement and anticipation for the second game in the series is growing with every leaked screenshot and tidbit of information.
The first game was a brilliant mix of first person shooter, puzzle and horror game. The levels were dark and foreboding; the sound effects were tense and eerie. The horrific screams and cackling from all around you as you search through the torn up, destroyed underground city of Rapture, you get a sense that nothing is what it seems.
The utopia, the perfect civilization has been a dream of man for centuries, and philosophers have spoken of this perfect place. One man had the foresight, the know-how, the vision to make it happen and he built that city under the sea where it couldn’t be touched by the imperfect governments and countries of so called civilized man. He gave the residents the freedom to do what they wanted; the scientists had nothing stopping them from their creations.
Then in steps the player, you come into the city and roam through these dark streets to try to fix the dangerous areas of Rapture. You must be careful as you wander through as it is a dangerous place full of enemies, traps and mutations.
It is one of the most exciting, action packed games that I have played in a long time and the upgrade system and weapon system is one of the most fun I’ve seen in a while. The controls are intuitive and the graphics are amazing. It really starts to show the power of the PS3. The sequel will release late this year and will undoubtedly be a huge hit.
