There’s no question that the Nintendo Wii has taken the video game industry by storm. It was nearly impossible to find one this past Christmas and the units continue to fly off the shelves. Recently, we have received a lot of emails from people wondering how they can copy Wii games right on their computer.
Since we keep getting this question, we decided to put together a quick guide on how to copy Wii games right on your own computer.
Nowadays, almost everyone has used the computer to burn a CD at some point. There are many different CD burning programs that let you do this; in fact most computers come pre-loaded with some type of burning software. However, this software will not make copies of your Wii games.
Video game discs are equipped with a form of “copyright protection” that block these programs from understanding the discs or being able to copy them. When you insert a disc into your computer, the computer can’t “read” the disc or understand it.
Although most burning software won’t work, there are specialty game-copying programs that have been specifically designed to be able to bypass the copyright guards that are on video game discs. This software will let you copy Wii games by allowing your computer to “understand” the game discs.
How do you use it?
It’s incredibly simple. First, you insert the game disc and wait while the program makes an “image” of the disc on your hard drive. Next, you insert a blank disc that your computer will burn this image onto. When it is finished, you are left with an exact copy of the game.
When you have this software on your computer, you can copy Wii games, XBOX 360 game, PS3 games - any type of game disc for that matter. It’s nice to have a program that does it all if you do have more than one game system at home.
Being able to copy Wii games is a great way to make backup copies of any game you want. This way you are protected if you ever damage or lose a game of yours.
