Mad World United

by Jeff Yomoto

MadWorld is a game designed with the Wiis platform feature for the hard core gamers. The creators of the game were Shigenori Nishikawa and Atsushi Inaba of PlatinumGames and Sega was the one chosen to publish it. The game had been making some controversies though it was still not release.

The game starts when the Varrigan City had been under the terrorist group known as The Organizers and turned the city into a game show called Death Watch. The trapped citizens were forced to join the game show since they have to fight for their lives in order to survive. They must fight violently unknown enemies to get the hundred million dollars prize.

In the game, the player will be Jack”the main character of MadWorld. They need to control Jack in hand-to-hand battle combats where weapons like chainsaw, street signs, bats, rose thorns, and daggers are found around the environment and use for killing unknown enemies. Jacks survival will depend on the how violent and bloody the killing was.

The presentation of the game has only three colors graphics and as it was after the graphic novel Sin City. The designed graphics were in high contrast of black and white colors and a red when blood comes out in fighting. Shigenori Nishikawa told that they wanted MadWorld to be seen in a comical way despite its dark tone and extreme violent feature.

Even before the release of MadWorld it has been given a lot of mixed reviews and controversies had been rising. In United Kingdom Madworlds release has been questioned due to the highly violent content of the game. These controversies also affect other target places for the release.

Even if controversies were lining up before MadWorlds release, decision to launch the game early this year was still made. It will be release in North America and Australia but still undecided for Japan. Nintendo also showed their support for the game.
