by Patrick Daniels

Since the original Game Boy system was released, so many years ago, many things have changes with handheld gaming systems. The most popular handheld console has long been the Nintendo DS, among children and those who prefer Nintendo over its primary competitor, Sony PSP. With the many new features of the latest version of the DS, Nintendo DSi, fans are sure to be excited.

Like previous DS versions, DSi features the same durable shell and interior dual screens, that fans have come to depend on and love. The plastic shell helps protect the system from abuse and the dual screens allow for greater game play flexibility and many options.

There are a vast amount of new features as well, the first being wireless capabilities. This is important, as they try to stay ahead of their competitors, the Sony PSP, who has been already offering this feature. With the new DSi you can not connect to the Internet fro many WiFi “hot spot”.

The DSi screens are larger, then previous versions, allowing for clearer and more engaging graphics. However, it’s biggest new feature is two separate cameras for users to enjoy. One located on the hinge and faces the user; the other is on the outer shell. You can now use your DSi to take pictures and then stored them on SD cards, which can be inserted in a slot on the back.

Like Nintendo Wii, you can use the DSi to log on to a “DS Shop” and purchase games, and more using “Nintendo Points”. This enables players to install game updates, purchase entirely new games, or try out different kinds of applications. This feature is sure to please any DS fan. With the DSi, Nintendo now offers one of the most vigorous handheld system ever.
