You Need A Flat Screen To Compete In Online Games

by Sammy Jetert

If you are a gamer, you are behind the curve if you are using an old TV. So many people now have Nintendo Wiis and XBoxes and the world of online gaming is booming. One thing the Internet has done is to allow us to play games online with people all over the world. But what do you do if you are playing these multiplayer online games on an old TV?

Playing on a big flats screen TV is lots of fun and something we couldnt even do five or so years ago. The bigger screen also makes it easier to see what is happening around you and makes it easier to aim accurately as well. If you dont have a flat screen you need to know that almost everyone online playing with you does have one and your chances of competing well and winning are slim without one. Their advantage is just too great for someone on a small set to overcome.

You might also be at a disadvantage if you dont have a fast Internet connection. The latest and fastest technology is called FIOS which is a connection to the Internet through a fiber optic cable. If your connection has even just a tiny bit of lag, you will not do well in a game where other players all have fast connections through FIOS or even regular cable.

Your television screen quality can also play a part. There is a new flat screen that has just come out on the market with LED backlighting and the picture from that screen is incredible. With or without HD, the new LED flat screens are gorgeous and give you the best clarity on the market. The clearer the picture, the better your chances are at doing well in the game.

Lastly, you could be playing against players that are decked out with the latest accessories and equipment. For instance, there are a variety of guns you can buy for the Wii that will allow you to aim more accurately and more easily. Someone who is playing the game with the normal controls against someone who is playing with one of these guns is at a disadvantage and might find it hard to do well. Unfortunately with online multiplayer games, between the differences in televisions, connection speeds, and accessories, all players are not on an equal playing field.
